Vaucanson's duck

Installation inspired on the legendary mechanical duck (1739). The original consisted of over a thousand moving parts and could wiggle, clap it's wings and make people believe it could eat, digest and shit. Around 1850 the now bold duck was spotted by Goethe somewhere in a glass shed, he describes the mechanical wonder duck as paralyzed and in decay. Some say the duck eventually burned in a Polish museum, others believe it still exists and cherish vague pictures that feature the duck in a smoky, out of focus, corner of the image.

After destroying the installation in 2004, I rebuild it in 2008
