... and the electrical life

Part of the 2004 exhibition: On computable numbers and the electrical life. In the bedroom of an apartment in Zwolle I installed this comatose body. It has a beating hard, lungs that breath and a system trough which 'bodily fluids' are being pumped.

After partially destroying the installation in 2004, I rebuild it in 2008

Wood, latex, various pumps, mosquito larvae.

On Computable numbers...

Part of the 2004 exhibition: On computable numbers and the electrical life. In the living room of an apartment in Zwolle I installed this wooden calculator/computer. This "logical thinking machine" acts as a reverse image of the comatose body on the first floor. Both on there own side, yet close to the border between lifeless substance (intelligent but dead) and living tissue (alive but ignorant and unconscious).

Wood, overhead projector, pianola pre-programmed perforated paper, antique calculators.
